South West Branch

Who are we?

The Moody Owners Association has a membership of about 2000, and some 290 are members of the South West Branch.

There are some 290 members in the branch whose home ports are anywhere from Poole in the East, along the South West coast, including the northern coasts of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset, the river Severn well beyond the Bridges, and around the Welsh coast towards mid Wales. This is a coastline of well over 3000 miles, so to ensure that as many members as possible have the opportunity to participate in the branch events, rallies are based on various centres throughout the region. The outline programme of events is shown below. In addition to the rallies and following on from the success of combining the SW AGM for the last few years with a regional/city visit each year, an additional ‘boat-free’ event is being planned for October this year, provisionally to Powderham Castle, near Exeter.

Latest information on these events is available on the South West pages of the MOA website. All MOA members are cordially invited to join any of these events and invitations will be sent out in due course by the branch secretary, Peter Roberts.

Our Port Officers are located in most of the major ports in the South West, and have knowledge of the local facilities and environment. The latest list of Port Officers is included on the Branch and Port Officers page of the South West pages of the web site.

Finally, an important role of our branch is to provide opportunities for members to meet, sail interesting waters and to enjoy the social aspects of the sport. The Branch arranges rallies and social events to UK ports and locations in France. Please use this web site to the full by clicking on the links which provide information on our future events, reports on past and current activities and list the port officers who can assist you to make cruising our waters a pleasant experience. Also please do not hesitate to contact the South West Branch officers (see “Branch and Port Officers” menu item) if you have any questions on our activities or suggestions on what you would like to see.
