Lunch and Annual General Meeting (AGM) – 31st January 2026
The Branch AGM was held at the Blue Anchor in Feering, just off the A12 in north Essex for the second year.
Thirty members from Kent, Essex and Suffolk assembled in the Garden Suite for an excellent meal, well up to last years standard, subsidised by the Branch. It was great to meet new members, (to the AGM) and rekindle old acquaintances. It was difficult to get the members seated for the lunch to be served as all were too busy chatting.
Its disappointing that the attendance was low as the venue can easily accommodate fifty or more – why not try and come next year!
After lunch the photo competition was judged by those present, a winner declared and a prize presented. Unfortunately there were fewer than expected entries, “oh! I forgot” being the reason.
The AGM proper followed which as usual is kept as short as possible although I was told this year was longer than usual. It all depends on how long the Branch Captain and Treasurer talk.
Yet again no trophies were presented as the Committee had not been able to find any suitable recipients and no member had nominated either themself or another member.

Noggin and Natter at Medway Yacht Club – 22nd February 2026
It stopped raining by mid morning and the sun even came out for a while enhancing the view across the river from Medway Yacht Club as 25 members gathered to chat about the winter’s tasks and their plans for the summer.
As always we were extremely well looked after by the staff at the Club and enjoyed a very good and substantial carvery Sunday lunch with starters and desserts optional. I think most of us managed to find room for a pudding all of which were very good but I think the crumble won the day.
Thanks to the staff for helping make this a pleasant and relaxed get together.

Fitting Out Lunch at Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club – 28th April 2026
Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club was the venue for a second year for the East Coast Branch fitting out lunch attended by 23 members.
The Club has recently undergone a significant renovation which makes the club room more conducive to host events and the food was as good as last year. The Moody’s being one of the first events to be held at the club since it reopened. There was lots of talk around winter projects that have been completed and sailing plans for this year.
If anyone venture into the Deben this summer do take an opportunity to stop off at Felixstowe Ferry. The club serves meals on a Wednesday evening, Saturday and Sunday lunchtime, all need booking ahead through the club’s website. There are showers in the club house for visiting yachtsman and always a warm welcome.
