Welcome to the Scottish Branch

Once again we have a packed and varied programme of events lined up for this year, thanks as always to our willing volunteers and the small but efficient committee. See dates below.

At the AGM in December we saw some changes to the committee. Many thanks to Simon Flower who has stepped into Hilary’s shoes as branch secretary and to Alistair Cameron who has joined the committee with a focus on resisting the Peel Ports Conservancy fee proposals.

As you no doubt have picked up, 2025 is the 40th anniversary of the MOA and we hope to make the Tarbert muster the focus of our branch celebrations. We have invited the Irish Branch to join us for this event so a great opportunity to meet some new members and swap notes on cruising grounds.

For those who have only recently joined the MOA or haven’t yet managed to make it to a muster, I hope to see you at one of our events this coming season. These are friendly social gatherings, generally over a weekend. We start and close the season in the Clyde and hold our summer musters on the West Coast. Whether you are new to these cruising grounds or old hands, there is always plenty of opportunity to share stories of your favourite anchorages or compare boats, projects, or problems with like-minded Moody Owners.

If you can’t wait till the season begins then do come along to the ever popular curry night or our fitting out lunch – see dates and details below. We are a fun group who enjoy our sailing with a social slant. So do come along and join us.

All Scottish branch members should receive e-mails for each event but if you are a member of another branch and want to join us, please contact Simon on scotlandsec@moodyowners.org or ask Howard Weeks, the membership secretary to list Scotland as your alternative branch. Do also sign up to our Muster WhatsApp group-chat to get the latest updates and share in the fun.

I hope everyone has a great season and I hope to see you on the water.
