Scotland Captain’s welcome for 2024 season

I am honoured to have been elected as the new Scotland Branch Captain and extremely grateful to Hamish who has handed over the branch in such good shape. Thanks to Hamish and Dot, we now have established a great programme of musters and social events throughout the year with strong support from the members, including many from South of the border who appreciate the beauty of Scotland’s cruising grounds.

I am also very grateful to the great band of volunteer organisers who really make these events a success and have helped us add “pop up” musters in 2023 at Port Edgar and Kerrera. We aim to do something similar in 2024 so keep your eye on the events calendar below and emails from Hilary our Branch Secretary.

For those who haven’t yet managed to make it to a muster, I hope to see you at one this coming season. These are friendly social gatherings, generally over a weekend. We start and close the season in the Clyde with summer musters on the West Coast, usually in the Oban area. Whether you are new to these cruising grounds or old hands, there is always plenty of opportunity to share stories of your favourite anchorages or compare boats, projects, or problems with like-minded Moody Owners. We are a fun group who enjoy our sailing with a social slant. So do come along and join us.

All Scottish branch members should receive e-mails promoting and explaining each event but if you are a member of another branch and want to join us, please contact Hilary on scotlandsec@moodyowners.org. Do also sign up to our WhatsApp group-chat for each muster to get the latest updates and share in the fun.

I hope everyone has a great season and I hope to see you on the water.
